Forestry Proud Day 2018

On May 16, Forestry Friendly Communities hosted the first annual Forestry Proud Day in Port McNeill, BC.

It was a day to celebrate forestry and logging and the many people who work in the sector. The event included a flag raising, fun activities (like a forestry themed photo booth!), a hot dog BBQ, and a great presentation.

Mayor Shirley Ackland, North Island-Powell River MP Rachel Blaney, and two recent VIU graduates gave speeches at the event.

“We have all heard the term ‘forestry feeds my family’ and that is certainly true for most of the communities on Northern Vancouver Island. Forestry has been the bread and butter resource of this province.”

– Mayor Shirley Ackland
